Short profile

I studied mathematics at Bielefeld University and Bergen University (Norway). After finishing my master´s degree, I did my PhD in Health Data Sciences at the Charité University Medicine Berlin where I graduated in 2022.  While working at the Institute of Biometry and Clinical Epidemiology of the Charité (head: Prof. Dr. Frank Konietschke), I was the lead of the research group `Clinical Trials´ and had an interim professorship in biostatistics. Afterwards, I worked on large clinical trials in the pharmaceutical industry in Denmark.

From October 1st 2024, I have been employed as juniorprofessor of biostatistics at the Mathematical Institute of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.

My research interests are:

  • Statistical methods for clinical trials
  • Sample size planning
  • Statistical modelling and model selection
  • Time-to-event analysis
  • Statistical literacy and didactics

My research area

Biostatistics is a highly interdisciplinary field at the intersection of statistics, mathematics and life sciences. It is a foundation for important research results in medicine, pharmaceutical sciences and biology.

My research group works on both the development of statistical methods as well as the planning and analysis of clinical trials and other studies. We conduct research on the topics of innovative trial designs (e.g. adaptive clinical trial designs), sample size planning, statistical model building and model selection as well as time-to-event analysis. This type of methodological research addresses questions that are relevant for the analysis of real world biostatistical data and the challenges that appear when analyzing them. As such, we connect theory and practice in order to generate relevant research results.
